Nurkovic joined Chiefs at the start of the 2019/20 season and quickly established himself as one of most feared strikers in the PSL, having already scored 12 goals in 24 appearances in his debut campaign.

Interestingly, that the 28-year-old has not yet represented his country of birth Serbia  at senior international level, which makes him eligible to play for Bafana Bafana should he continue living and working in South Africa for up to five consecutive years.

The thought has already crossed the mind of ‘Kokota’, as he is affectionately known, with his agent revealing how he enquired about possibly playing alongside his Amakhosi teammates Lebogang Manyama, Erick Mathoho and Itumeleng Khune at international level.

“He is so in love with the country that while I was visiting him in November, he even asked me to enquire if he has any chance to play for Bafana  Bafana, because if there was, he would do it right away,” Dajan Smac told Lovemore Moyo in the latest KICK OFF Magazine

The July edition of the magazine also boasts in-depth features on the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns young star Keletso Makgalwa and former Orlando Pirates  midfielder Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso  Mosimane also previously suggested the country should open its doors for players like Uruguayan star Gaston Sirino to take up the Bafana jersey in future.
